Charmaine's Bright Squares on Point Quilt

Next up in the gallery of completed client quilts is this bright and colorful top by Charmaine that features simple squares set on point.

I've been good lately about remembering to take a "before" photo so that you can see just how much more the quilting adds to the finished project.

She used a cute construction site print as the focus fabric and coordinated the other fabrics.  I especially like the multi-color diamond print fabric that she used for the border.

Such great texture adds much needed movement to the simple square blocks.

Most of the time now Charmaine lets me choose the panto design and threads to use on her quilts.  For this one, Calder was my pic as it reminded me of doing K turns.  Threads used were Glide Kryptonite on top and Glide Rock Navy in the bobbin.  Charmaine purchases the Quilters Dream 80/20 batting from me for all her quilts.

The backing was a flannel in a coordinating shade of bright blue.

This quilt is going to be loved and I'm betting that it will be well snuggled with in no time.

Another of Charmaine's creations is up next.

Charmaine's Yankees Quilt

My client Charmaine created this adorable Blue and White Yankees  and bear themed quilt for a special young man in her life.

"Before"  - loaded on the frame and ready to go.

The bears she created and appliqued on are just so cute. I don't remember what she told me about why this one is wearing a purple vest and has an N on it's hat but I'm would venture a guess that he's a big baseball fan and the colors and letters chosen mean something special to him.

The other fella is sporting a green vest and a S on his cap.

Breath of Gods was the panto choice.  Threads were Glide Mercury on the top and Glide Sky in the bobbin.  Batting was Quilters Dream 80/20.

I expect the young man that received this quilt was over the top excited. Who could blame him?

On to the next one.....

Kate's Large Star Quilt

Quilt Inspector #1, aka Maverick, was front and center for this quilt's photo shoot. This is Kate's large star quilt that I had the pleasure of quilting for her.

This is how it looked when it was loaded on the frame.

This is how it turned out.  I can't imagine all of the time it took for Kate to piece this quilt.  It's huge, measuring it at 110" square.

For a traditional quilt design using retro fabrics, a feather motif was the obvious choice. We chose the Plumage panto.  Since it is a denser design, each row took almost a half hour to stitch out.

He takes his inspection duties very seriously and so he looked it over very carefully before he gave his approval.

Although my favorite thread is Glide, we chose threads without a sheen, this time Signature in Sand Dollar for the top and Mother Goose for the bobbin.

The backing fabric is a pretty scenery print in shades of Cream, Red and Green.

You can see the details of the backing fabric here.

Of  course he had to also give it the snuggability test before he deemed it just right.

Kate was as thrilled with the results as I was and I know that it it's going to keep her and her hubby super warm this coming winter.

I'm thrilled to announce that my most recent design, Strolling Pathways, is included in newest book from Martingale Publishing and Moda Bake Shop titled Charmed-A Dozen Delightful Charm Pack Quilts. The book release date is October 3rd but can be preordered now from @martingaletpp or from Amazon. You can also check to see if your local independent quilt shop will order it for you. My quilt features the gorgeous Slow Stroll fabric line by Fancy That Design House.

The pattern uses 3 charm packs (you can also use scrappy charms) and 4 yards of a background fabric. I loved creating this new design and can't wait to see your version. It's simple and comes together quickly so pull out a stack of your favorite charm packs and preorder your copy of the book so that you can get started as soon as it arrives.

Susan's Green and White Check Quilt

My friend Susan's almost 4 year old grandson requested a new, not babyish, quilt for his bed and picked out the colors himself.  It's a big quilt, finishing at 94" square so that was a lot of green and white pieces. The small squares are 2" finished.

Loaded and ready to go.  It's a good thing I have a 12 foot frame so I'm able to handle the bigger tops with no problems.

Another rainy day meant indoor photos.  Luckily I have a good size great room and have enough floor space to spread this out after I move a bit of furniture back and out of the way.

Such pretty texture and just the perfect amount of weight with Quilters Dream 80/20 batting.

Susan wanted a simple panto design so she chose Stars and Loops.  The tread was Glide Coin for the top and Glide Black for the back.

One of the quilt inspectors had to test this one out and give his approval.

The backing is a cute flannel construction vehicle print.  Perfect for a little boy who loves trucks.

We were both happy with the result and her grandson was over the moon when he finally received his big boy quilt.

Thank you Susan for letting me quilt for you.  I can't wait to see what's next.

5 more baby quilts for Charmaine

My customer Charmaine recently admitted to me that she's addicted to making baby quilts and her next batch of quilts is certainly more proof of that.  :)  This time is twas a stack of 5 that I recently stitched for her. There were 4 of her simple bars baby quilt designs.  Each one is a tad bit different depending on the whimsical print and other coordinating fabrics she uses. All have Quilters Dream 80/20 batting and either Glide Turf or Glide Sea Mist thread.

Charmaine's favorite panto design is Stars and Loops so all of these received that treatment.

She always brings some of the most adorable flannel prints for the backings. This one was this cute animal motif.

The 2nd one was more girlish with the pink and purple fabrics. The navy print has owls and smiling moons on it.

Though it's tough to see in this pic, the backing for this one was a soft buttery yellow and white fabric.

Next is another bright version with the elephant print that I've seen her use before.

The backing was another really cute animal print, this time with baby bears, elephants, giraffes and hippos.

Quilt number 4 was another similar girly version with the same owl and smiling moon print.

This one also had the soft yellow and white for the backing.

Quilt number 5 was a total change from the usual.  It was this colorful squares on point using the owl and moon print.

You can see here what I'm referring to - that print is just so sweet.

The backing this time was a pastel checkerboard print that coordinated well with the colors in the owl and moon fabric.

The panto is an easier one to stitch so these were finished and ready to be picked up very quickly.  I'm glad I'm able to help Charmaine restock her pile of baby quilts so she has them ready to go the next time one is needed.

I know she'll continue to make baby quilts so I expect before long I'll get a call that she has another pile of tops ready to be quilted.  I look forward to seeing what design and fabrics she uses next.
