Charmaine's Tumbler Baby Quilts x 7

My customer Charmaine has been busy again, creating a mountain of baby quilt tops and of course I had the pleasure recently of quilting them for her.
They were all her usual I Spy Tumbler design and they include such a huge variety of prints.
Since the tops are so busy, we pick a panto design that's not too detailed.
For this stack of tops, we chose the Fascination panto. Quilters Dream 80/20 batting was used for all.
She always provides soft flannel backings that are so snugly.
The last quilt was actually for her grandson.  Evidently he complained to her that, while she's been making so many of these baby quilts, he didn't have one.  So of course she took care of that problem right away.
I stitched Shooting Stars on this one.
She provided a special backing which is really adorable.
These baby quilts stitch up so quickly and I'm glad I'm able to get them returned to her fast.
I'm sure Charmaine is working on the next stack of baby quilt tops and eventually I'll get the call to quilt those for her too.

Susan's Sailboats Quilt

My friend Susan worked on this adorable sailboat quilt for quite a while. I'd hear about it when she brought me other tops to quilt for her. I was looking forward to seeing it when it finally came my way for it's finishing touch.

I was excited when she called to book it on my schedule.  This is the "before" quilting photo.

In process.
She made this quilt for the daughter and son-in-law who own a sailboat.  Isn't it fabulous!
The Waterworld panto was her design choice. It adds the perfect feel for the pieced blocks. The batting is Quilter's Dream 80/20 which I have available to purchase for my customers.   Thread was Glide Tar Heel on the front and Sky in the bobbin.

The backing she brought was a solid medium blue that shows off the stitching nicely.

I'm sure that the daughter and son-in-law that received this quilt were thrilled and will remind them of warmer days and beautiful breezes on the water, especially while hunkering down during our cold, snowy winters.

There's no doubt that Susan is working on yet another fun quilt top that will come my way for stitching at some point in the future.  I can't wait to see what it will be.

Susan's Vintage Truck Hunter's Star Quilt

My friend Susan also made herself a Hunter's Star quilt featuring adorable vintage trucks.

While the piecing is certainly great...

...it's the actual quilting that brings the whole thing to life.
This is what it looked like before I started.  It's a pretty top but it's flat and needs it's own type of bling, thread stitched in a fabulous design.
Here it is after the stitching was finished.  It definitely has a lot more character.
Whether it's an edge to edge design, custom quilting or hand quilting, every quilt top needs the stitching to add the much needed texture to the design.
Susan's panto choice for this was Holly Berries, which is a personal favorite of mine.
The backing she provided is a matching vintage truck flannel.
The stitching design added just the right amount of highlights to the backing so the adorable print can still shine.
With our cold Northeast winters, I know this quilt will be snuggled under for many hours to come.
I always love to see what Susan brings me to stitch up for her.  I can't wait to see what's next.

Pink and Brown Rail Fence Quilt for Guild

This is the Pink and Brown Rail Fence quilt that I stitched up for my guild's Comfort Quilt program.
The before picture (when I remember to take one) is always a great way to see just how much more the quilting adds to the top.
The stitching brings the whole thing to life.
The fun part of doing charity quilts is that I get to pick the design I use and for this one I chose the Cascade panto.  Glide thread in Pink Lemonade was used on the top and So Fine 402 Pearl was used on the back.
I typically get the larger projects to quilt for the guild because most of the smaller ones are done on domestic machines or are hand tied.  This one is 72" x 90".
The guild sends fabric for the back that I have to piece together and for this one they sent a combo of the Cream solid and the Pink print.  The quilting really shows nicely on the back.
I'm sure this quilt will bring lots of comfort and warmth and the person that receives this pretty quilt will treasure it forever.

Charmaine's Pink and Gray Single Irish Chain Baby Quilts

My customer Charmaine regularly brings me baby quilts to complete, usually 2-3 at a time.  This time it was 2 simple Simple Irish Chain/Nine Patch quilts in Pink and Gray.

The first one was a lighter Pink.
And the 2nd one was much more of a Hot Pink.
She brought me one long backing and batting  for both so I was able to load the 2nd one right after the first.
The outside lighting was a bit off that day so these pictures don't show their true colors but they turned out adorable.
The quilting just finishes off the simple pattern so well.
The Fantastico variegated Pink thread that I used on both was just right.
Ahhh...the pretty texture the quilting creates.
I had recently purchased a couple of new hearth themed pantos and she chose the Hearts Fancy one for both of these quilts.
The backing is this adorable Pink and Gray Elephant print.  I used Glide Pink Lemonade thread in the bobbin.
Quilting both of these adorable baby quilts was fun.
I look forward to seeing what cute quilts Charmaine brings me next.

Charmaine's Orange and Yellow quilt

The next customer top to be quilted was this bright Orange and Yellow number by Charmaine.  It was a project from a guild workshop in the spring.
The "before" shot.  Charmaine gave me free reign to do what I wanted and while I was severely temped to do some custom quilting on it, time and her budget weren't part of the equation.
The top's colors remind me of flames and that was my first idea for designs but when auditioned, I didn't like it.  So another idea was needed.
The panto choice I went with is Whirlygig.  The overall effect is pretty and I think the bit of spikiness of the panto design plays off the piecing and colors. Luckily I had the perfect thread in stock, Superior's Rainbows Autumn Leaves and So Fine Pumpkin was used on the back.
The quilting shows on the back just the right amount.
Charmaine was happy with the result and so another happy customer was on her way to not having yet another UFO in her pile.
Quilting for my customers certainly is varied and interesting.  I can't wait to see what's up next.

Marylou's Log Cabin quilt

My customer Marylou certainly has been busy lately piecing a bunch of quilts.  As happened last time, when she picked up her Baby Animals quilt, she dropped off this Log Cabin variation one for me to quilt. It's also to be a gift for a new baby girl.
The quilting went smooth and it was on and off the frame the same day.  :)
Choosing which pattern to use took me a little while as many that I thought I would like for this quilt I rejected once auditioned.  I finally settled on Fire Flower and I'm pleased with the effect.  Thread was Glide Pink on the top and So Fine Lilac on the back.
I really like the block placement for this quilt and I'm very temped to make a version of my own using scraps, which of course I have an abundance of. (don't we all?)
But that idea  will have to wait as more customer tops are in the queue to be quilted and I have a few other projects in the works that are further ahead in the "To Make" line.  Some day though.
